Breeding Exotic Animals

If you own an exotic animal you may be able to make a little extra money every year by breeding your pet with another of the same species, breed or pedigree.  Exotic animals are an expensive investment, but with a little care and creativity, you can essentially gain a best friend and a new means of financial success.  Despite what you may think, breeding exotic animals can be a lot of work.

When you are breeding animals, there are several things to think about.  One of the biggest things is your financial abilities to begin breeding exotic animals.  You will need to understand the reproduction cycles of the animals you are interested in breeding.  Monkeys for example are very similar to humans, so you can test for the time when a female is at her most fertile and then introduce the optimum male counterpart.

The breeding process is a mixture of adding two animals together with the right hormones at the right time.  You are not guaranteed success, so do not be disappointed if you have to try again at the next reproductive peak.  Learning how to breed an animal is complicated, let alone an exotic animal.  There are far more intricacies than breeding the average animal.  Education, finesse and patience will have to exercised fully in order produce optimum results.

Typical animals have obvious breeding patterns, so if you are interested in breeding exotic animals you must learn all you can before you even begin the process. If you begin the breeding process and you you do not know what you are doing, you can traumatize the animal and reproduction may not be possible in the future.  This is not acceptable after you have spent money on your investment and you newest best friend.  In order to get the return on your investment you will have to work hard, despite the popular belief that breeding animals is an easy task.
