If you’ve got an exotic pet, then you know there is a lot of extra attention that goes into taking care of your pet. You know that there are special foods, cages, and even vets that will help you raise your pet. So when it’s time to go on vacation, what can you do with your exotic pet? We have some help here in this article.
First of all, consider that you probably can’t take your pet on vacation. First of all, there may be local rules and regulations in the city you are planning to visit against exotic pets. Also, it’s hard to take all the equipment and food for your pet when you travel. It’s best if they can stay home while you go on your trip.
Ask a neighbor for help. Probably your first line of help should be to ask a neighbor or a friend. That way, you’re pet won’t have to be packed up and taken to a boarding house. You’ll know that your pet is being taken care of someone that you trust. Plus, they are in the environment they are used to. Moving to a new environment will put stress on an exotic animal, so it’s best to keep them where they currently are.
If a neighbor or a friend isn’t an option, ask your vet. Some vets know of boarding house and spots that will keep exotic animals. Your vet may even have a place in his office for your pet to stay for a couple of weeks.
No matter where you end up taking your pet while you go on vacation, make sure the proper food and equipment is given to the caretaker. You want your pet to be as comfortable as possible while you are away, so make sure all the comforts of home are with him.
Go ahead and enjoy a vacation. You can trust that your pet will be well taken care of.
